Top 3 LinkedIn Strategies You Can Implement in 1 Hour

1. Make your profile robust. It is extremely easy to determine if you have added enough information to your because LinkedIn tells you how complete it is. In accordance with keeping these strategies under and hour make sure that you have:

* A professional photo. It doesn't not have to be professionally taken, but make sure that you are the only one in the picture, that you look presentable, and that nothing distracting is also happening in the frame.

* Add a work history of at least your past 3 positions. If you've stayed at the same company for some time, but you've moved up through the company - add those promotions as unique positions to make your profile look more full. To get started, you can simply copy and the past the "About Us" section of the company website into your profile.

* Include a summary. LinkedIn will even suggest buzz words for SEO (search engine optimization). Your summary can be a few simple sentences, but just make sure you have one.

2. Join Groups. You can join up to 50 Groups on LinkedIn. At the top of your LinkedIn profile, put your cursor over the word Interests, select Groups from the drop down. Discover groups that are pertinent for your profession, any philanthropic interests you have, your Alma Mater, etc. I try to focus on groups that are either quite large 1K+ members or quite active.

* The beauty of joining groups that are linked to your professional interest is that the members of those groups are now within your network. This will make lead sourcing via LinkedIn more productive.

* Make sure that you limit the "newsletters" that the Groups send you. I limit the newsletters to once a month otherwise I find it becomes a distraction to be a member of the Groups rather then a value-add.

3. Be active on your news feed. Make sure to visit the Home Page of your LinkedIn at least once a day and find an article to comment on or like. This shows that you are an active participant on LinkedIn.

* Be weary of what you comment on or share. I suggest that you avoid religious or political posts.

* Part of LinkedIn is building your own brand as a subject matter expert on your job, your industry, your sales cycle etc. Figure out what your "brand" is and focus on articles that are related to your profession. Don't fall into the trap of commenting on the posts about what does 1+1+1+1-0X...blah blah blah or what drink doesn't have an E in it. That does not make you seem like the busy professional that you are.

These are very simple strategies that you can implement today in under and hour that will have a big pay off. Please do not hesitate to email me with additional questions and don't forget to add me on LinkedIn!
